VICTOR, N.Y., Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- ClearCove, a leading wastewater-energy and resource recovery company, today announced it is making significant progress on its flagship wastewater treatment (design-build) project with Dairy Farmers of America (DFA).

The project, which broke ground toward the end of 2016, is part of an investment in a cheddar cheese processing plant in the upstate New York area. The plant is a joint venture between DFA, Arla—a European dairy cooperative— and eight local farmers. At full capacity, the plant will produce roughly 15 million pounds of cheese annually and create up to 30 new jobs.

Commenting on the deal, ClearCove's CEO, Greg Westbrook, "This first-of-its-kind project represents a significant sustainability milestone in the dairy industry. ClearCove's superior solids removal technology will enable the plant to achieve net zero energy consumption through anaerobic digestion. Moreover, it means the plant can process up to 230,000 gallons per day of clean water for support of the wastewater treatment operation alongside agricultural reuse, which includes drinking water for the cows and field irrigation."

The partnership will provide a significant economic boost to the Fingers Lakes region. Aside from job creation, it will also help catalyze technology investment in an area rich in freshwater and agricultural resources.

Mr. Westbrook went on to express his excitement about the engagement, "We are honored that DFA selected our technology for this joint venture. Make no mistake, this is a big deal for ClearCove and the local agricultural economy. This project enables us to demonstrate our complete value proposition of being able to deliver clean energy, clean water and clean air, through greenhouse gas reduction, more efficiently and effectively than any other technology in the marketplace to date."
