Swinging from consecutive operational losses to positive quarterly operating income drove a same-session surge in small-cap technology today, demonstrating how prior cost restructuring flows directly to the bottom line as top-line revenue expands.
Cemtrex Inc. (Nasdaq: CETX), a New York company whose businesses sell video surveillance cameras and software, install and maintain equipment at factories and industrial plants, and build sensors and instruments for aerospace and defense customers, rose 9.9% Thursday after releasing preliminary fourth-quarter and full-year fiscal 2026 results for the period ended September 30, 2026. For the fourth quarter, Cemtrex reported operating income of $1.4M compared to operating losses of $1.2M in both Q4 fiscal 2025 and Q3 fiscal 2026. Non-GAAP Operating EBITDA reached $1.9M, reversing Operating EBITDA losses of $0.6M in Q3 and $0.8M in the prior-year quarter. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 22% year over year to $22.7M (up 23% sequentially), while gross margin expanded to 46.3% from 38.0% a year ago and 41.7% in Q3.
Operating income benefited from a $0.5M non-cash gain from releasing contingent consideration tied to the Plant Engineering Services acquisition. Management noted that the Security segment was the largest contributor to the quarter; running on the cost base set in January, it swung from a $4.4M operating loss in the first half of fiscal 2026 to $2.0M in operating income in the second half. For full-year fiscal 2026, revenue stood at $75.3M with an operating loss of $4.8M. Balance-sheet metrics improved across the year: stockholders' equity rose to $35.7M (from $8.7M), working capital increased to $10.6M (from $5.2M), and warrant liabilities dropped to $2.8M (from $8.7M). Cemtrex completed three acquisitions during the year (Invocon, Richland Industrial/AIS Tennessee, and Plant Engineering Services) and holds an active letter of intent for a fourth industrial services asset.
Next primary catalysts include publishing final audited financial results in its upcoming Form 10-K, executing a definitive agreement on the pending industrial services acquisition, and completing planned cost-optimization work at AIS Tennessee, expected in fiscal 2027.
Shares of CETX rose 9.9% to US$1.95 on volume of approximately 35.0M shares on the Nasdaq
